Welcome to the Children's Center at Bethesda Memorial Hospital!

At Bethesda, we know that kids aren't just little adults.  That's why we made Bethesda Children's Center a world that centers around children, from the whimsical undersea decor to the kid-size transport wagons that take children through the hospital.  Our dedicated team of pediatric specialists and pediatric nurses is here to provide your child with the highest quality of compassionate medical care in a family-friendly setting.

Our new center features private and semi-private rooms and a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit to care for critically ill children.  Staffed 24 hours a day by a team of pediatric professionals, the Bethesda Children's Center is the area's most comprehensive center for children's medical care.

A CARING TEAM FOR YOUR CHILD

There's peace of mind in knowing your child will be cared for by a dedicated staff of medical professionals.  And when your child needs emergency medical attention, a team of childcare specialists is available 24 hours a day.

In addition to Bethesda's pediatricians and pediatric intensivists, the medical staff includes specialists in cardiology, emergency medicine, endocrinology, gastroenterology, neonatal medicine, pulmonary medicine and surgery.

While your child is in our care, there is a pediatric nurse assigned to care for each child.  Whenever your child has a need, big or small, our nurses will gladly answer questions, provide a solution to a problem, or just give a reassuring hug.

STAYING OVERNIGHT

To help your child feel at home, the Bethesda Children's Center encourages parents to pack a bag with their child's favorite things when they're going to be admitted.  Things like a favorite pair of pajamas, a blanket, or a teddy bear provide wonderful comfort when you can't spend the night in your own bed. 

NUTRITIOUS MENUS YOUR KIDS WILL LIKE

Whether your child likes macaroni and cheese, fish sticks or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, our children's menu will appeal to even the most finicky of eaters.  Working with your child's physician, Bethesda offers a special menu of breakfast, lunch and dinner items updated daily.  Our pediatric nutritionists will help your child select from a variety of meals that are both tasty and nutritious.

A PLAYROOM JUST FOR KIDS

Because kids like to play, Bethesda has a playroom so kids can play and learn while they heal. It's filled with toys that are just right for each child's developmental needs, as well as games and activities that can help them better understand any medical tests or procedures they may have while in the hospital.

PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS ARE SPECIAL, TOO!

At Bethesda, we know the best comfort of all is having your "Mommy" or "Daddy" when you're in the hospital.

While parents are provided 24 -hour visitation rights, we welcome one parent to spend the night in their child's room.  In this way, the nurse will have enough room to check on your child during the night without disturbing either of you.

For the parent spending the night, we provide a sleep chair, towels, linens and a pillow, with coffee and juice available in the morning.  Guest trays can be ordered for a nominal fee.

GOING HOME

When your child is ready to go home, Bethesda's team of pediatric professionals will be with you every step of the way.  Our pediatric case manager will guide you through the transition to home and make sure that your child's healthcare needs are met.  Whether it's helping you to arrange for a home health nurse or a homebound teacher, count on Bethesda's team to offer you the support you need.

The Center for Pediatric Development is available should your child benefit from outpatient therapy.
